SWEAT in the city

Episode 1 - to PUSH or not to PUSH

I do not have a tale of desperation, self-loathing, or incredible weight loss for you, dear reader. Oh no. Much like Sex in the City's Carrie Bradshaw is the 'Everywoman' of the single dating scene, I, Tanya Sloan, am the 'Everywoman' of the single workout scene. Sweat in the City, oh my yes.

Having a relationship with the gym is much like having a relationship with a partner - it takes commitment, an understanding of yourself, acceptance of things that will not change, the best of intentions, and the desire to make it work. The ups, the downs, the successes and failures and disappointments, the embarrassing moments, and the moments of triumph - I have had them all. I have been reading your magazine for about 3 years, and often it is my little piece of sanity in the mailbox after a hard day. Better than chocolate for the lack of body love that is breaking my heart.

  • I know I represent a HUGE amount of your reader base when I say I am:
  • single and in my 30s
  • have a full-time job (technical and sedentary work)
  • have several hobbies and interests outside of fitness
  • like to spend time with friends, family, and whatever boy happens to be in my life
  • STRUGGLE TO FIT A CHALLENGING WORKOUT SCHEDULE INTO THIS HECTIC EXISTENCE!!!

I have tried and failed to be a size 2 supermodel. Then I have tried and failed to accept that I will just be what I am, a 5'6'', 155 lb size 10 or 12. So currently I am trying and determined not to fail at being the very best me physically, mentally, and spiritually. I am determined to succeed in my meaningful fitness goals, while maintaining a balanced life full of things worth being healthy for.

  • And for the record, my current goals are:
  • Improve my vertical leap and endurance for Volleyball (which I play 2x a week)
  • Get a stomach that I can be proud to show off in midriff tops (by summer this year)
  • Find a way to incorporate fitness into my life without always being tired (now!! zzz..)
  • Clean up a diet that vacillates between innocence and depravity (tomorrow.. then tomorrow.. then arrggh!)

I know my situation will resonate with your readers. I know my goals will resonate with your readers. And I know I NEED SOME HELP to reach my goals, which are lofty to me. And I know I respond well to challenges, and oh yes, publicity. So let me help you inspire your readers, and reap the benefits too! Pick me for one of your PUSH program members, and let's DO THIS THANG!!!
